If you have any specific questions I would be happy to try to answer them. I think that will help get things laid out to help overcome the smaller surface control. I have created a few templates for it to start with. They have been extremely helpful and responsive. What few things I couldn't figure out or would like to be able to do are on the list at Avid. I was concerned about the limited top layer functionality, but I spent some time with it and was able to come up with a workaround for pretty much every need I have. Next week I am using it for a show with a bunch of bands, so that will be it's first real test. What are your thoughts?I have only done one show and one recording session on it so far but it worked very well. I am not sure how I will feel about the functions being that extra click away though. I fly everywhere and think it will fit my baggage allowances. Off topic, how are you liking the S3L? I am sitting on the fence about purchasing one at the moment. On the stadium shows the system tech will have it running anyway. I really only require the one input as it is for my personal use when touring and I usually have a systems tech. You will have some sort of transformer/adapter or ac cable to carry as well. Keep in mind that any USB interface with more than 2 inputs will not be buss powered. I also use 2 additional inputs for recording when I am not multi-tracking. For measurement and show monitoring I use 3 mic inputs, a cue input and an aux/buss input. It is not that small but it is my current favorite. My current setup is Smaart V.7 with a Roland Octa-Capture. After that, I primarily used a USBPre and sometimes an Allen&Heath ZED10 mixer which has a 2 channel USB interface built in.

Therefore the computer had to have an analog line input. My first rig was an IBM Thinkpad running V4 and an AudioControl MP400 I/O. I've had a number of Smaart setups throughout the years.

Smaart 7 setup portable#
My main goal is to keep my ever expanding personal brief case items as portable as possible. Maybe you are using something else, I am also keen to consider options. I am looking at getting something extremely portable to keep baggage weight down for flights, but high quality.Įveryone chime in with your Smaart set ups. Just curious as to what interface I/O most folks are using when they run Smaart.
